Medmenham Early Years Fun Day
On 30 June Medmenham Early Years organized and hosted the Medmenham Early Years Fun Day.
The intention was to celebrate 10 years of the setting’s existence and for recently achieving an OFSTED OUTSTANDING assessment earlier in the year. The Fun Day was not primarily about raising money, it was about celebrating our successes; and I think that we achieved that in big handfuls!
There were many stalls, selling homemade cakes, competitions of skill and luck, a tombola with bottles of wine, beer, shampoo and other bottled items and chocolates. There was also a raffle draw to be held later with the prizes being donations from parents, friends and local businesses. With face painting, shoot-the-hoop, beat-the-goalie and pass-the-parcel, the kids were entertained all afternoon. Not only that, there were the Barnyard Buddies where children could come pet and feed rabbits, guinea pigs, goats and sheep. At 1300hrs the star attraction of ‘Sam Tastic’, the children’s magician, came and entertained the crowd with his magical skills. The children loved the show and talked about it for a long time afterwards.
The parents were not left out, the Danesfield Arms was also open (with thanks to the Danesfield Arms Committee) for patrons to have a drink in the wonderful sunshine, and the BBQ sold burgers and hot dogs which sold out halfway through the event! Everything went smoothly and the day was a success! The fundraising team of Medmenham Early Years certainly delivered a fabulous day and thanks to the staff and parents volunteering their time, efforts, cake making and face painting skills. With the assistance of unbelievably good weather the event was extremely well attended, and a true community spirit was felt with the whole day enjoyed by all. Well done to all who supported Medmenham Early Years Fun Day, and I look forward to next year’s event! ν
