Back on the Streets
After a year-long hiatus, the RAF High Wycombe Road Cycling Club is back up and hosting group rides to make the most of the relaxing national restrictions, long evenings and summer weather. The club is completely free to join and is open to all military or civilian personnel at RAF High Wycombe and any members of their family aged 18 or over.
A friendly club that aims to cater to all ability levels, the club hosts a weekly after-work ride from spring to autumn around the gorgeous local scenery of the Chilterns. Whether heading out towards Princes Risborough, Marlow or Great Missenden, the rides all guarantee a dose of nature and some spectacular views as well as an excellent workout in the rolling hills.
On the first ride of the month the club aims to set off in the afternoon for a slightly longer route, including a well-deserved stop at a local independent café for some cake and caffeine. Previous stops have included Musette cycling café in Tring, Velolife cycling café near Maidenhead and the lovely Waterfront Café in Benson.
Looking into the future, the club has hopes to organise some trips further afield to ride some of the UK and Europe’s most famous cycle routes – watch this space…
So: Whether you’re interested in some friendly local rides, finding others to ride with in sportives and charity events, or local and RAF-level racing, get in touch with the club and see what we can offer you!
