Group Captain Mark Heffron was suitably shocked when he was given a surprise performance by the RAF High Wycombe Ladies Choir at his final Station Brief held on Friday 5 Apr 2013.

The Ladies, led by voice coach Megan Tanner, opened the brief by singing ‘The Rose’ and ‘Walking on Sunshine’ to the Station audience with a back drop of the Station Commander’s most memorable moments.

Group Captain Heffron, affectionately known to the Ladies as ‘The Dude’ is the Choir’s self claimed biggest fan and has been very supportive in the choir’s creation and development.

Emma Cheedy, the Choir’s Co-ordinator, was very keen to ensure Group Captain Heffron was given a special send off. She said,

“The Station Commander has been very supportive of the RAF High Wycombe Ladies Choir and we are all keen to show him how much we have appreciated his time and effort; to surprise him at the Station Brief and dedicate 2 songs to him was the ideal way to do this”.

Group Captain Heffron, who has served as Station Commander at High Wycombe since April 2011, was thrilled to see the choir when he arrived to brief his Station personnel for the last time.

“I had absolutely no idea that the RAF High Wycombe Ladies Choir had arranged to sing for me.  The Ladies sounded incredible and certainly added a special touch to the end of my tour here as Station Commander. If only all of my Station Briefs could have been this entertaining!”

RAF High Wycombe Ladies Choir has sung for the Naphill horticultural Society Annual Dinner and Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Armed Forces Day on 29 June 2013.
