London Poppy day raises smiles

On Thursday 1 November, 50 personnel from RAF High Wycombe travelled to London to take part in the Royal British Legion’s London Poppy Day.

At a time when pride in our Armed Forces has never been higher, RBL London Poppy Day aimed to raise £1 million in one day, all in support of Armed Forces and their families.

Sent to three busy London Stations, including Oxford Circus, the High Wycombe contingent spent the day coaxing the London commuters out of their hard-earned cash, all for a good cause of course! Collecting from 6am until 7pm, it was a long, but very rewarding, day.

RAF High Wycombe Station Commander, Gp Capt Heffron visited his personnel throughout the day, “Personnel from High Wycombe were proud to support such an important event, and take time out of the office to show support for the Royal British Legion. It truly reinforces the strong ties that exist between Service Personnel and the Public.”

Despite the sore feet and cold noses, the smiles stayed strong.  A fantastic day was had by all!
