Naphill & Hughenden Scouts
For those of you not aware, the local Scout group for RAF High Wycombe personnel living on the patches surrounding the base at Walter’s Ash, is the Naphill and Hughenden Group, based out of the Scout Hut behind the Naphill Village Hall.
The Group encompass all age groups, from Beavers, through Cubs and Scouts to Explorers for boys and girls. Locally, the Group is well attended, although it does suffer from lack of adult Section Leaders, Assistant Leaders and assistants/helpers (for all age groups).
As an example of how you can help, during last term, most of our Scouts completed Levels 1 and 2 of their Emergency Aid badge. For this, we are grateful for the support of RAF High Wycombe’s RAF Medic SAC Jonny Marenghi, who gave up his evening to come and teach our Scouts some of the fundamentals of Emergency Aid. The Scouts really enjoyed the evening, and when a recap session was held the following week were able to apply what they had learned. Jonny has volunteered to come back soon to assist the Scouts to progress to their level 3 badge. Moreover, Wg Cdr Steve Jackson, a Scout Leader at his local Group in his home town, has recently joined as an adult helper during our Thursday evening sessions as and when he can.
For the forth-coming summer term, the Scouts aim to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Plans are still fluid at time of writing, but are likely to include a cook out in the woods, an evening hike, climbing and a week-end camp. If you are interested in joining and/or helping out with any of the age groups, please get in touch! Help can range from being a regular Assistant Leader through to providing one-off specialist interest training/activities. Flt Lt Dujon Goncalves-Collins (Assistant Scout Leader).
