Visit of the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire
RAF High Wycombe was honoured by the visit of the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Mrs Carolyn Cumming.
After signing the visitors book, the High Sherriff was given a tour of the base, including a tour of the renovated Harris Room, ACM Sir Arthur Harris’ wartime office. As part of the Stn Heritage Team, Sgt John Hayes led the tour of the office, discussing the development project and future plans for the room.
The High Sheriff then presided over the Honours and Awards ceremony, recognising those who have shown bravery and given great service to the RAF. The Awards presented include the Royal Warrant, LS&GCM and OSM Afghanistan.
“I must congratulate all the recipients today for their hard work and dedication, and also congratulate their families who support them in the work they do. Buckinghamshire is so proud to have you serving here, and I hope the close relationship between RAF High Wycombe and the County of Buckinghamshire will continue,” said Mrs Cumming in her closing speech.
Mrs Cumming will shortly finish her year in office as the High Sheriff and it has been a privilege to those on Station who have worked with her over the last year. We look forward to inviting the next individual in office to the Station and hope the strong ties between RAF High Wycombe and the High Sheriff continue.
