On Friday 11th October 2013, the RAF High Wycombe SSAFA In-Service Committee held a ‘Big Brew Up’ Coffee Morning to raise money for SSAFA, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association.

The event was held in the Oakeshott Centre on 3 Site Committee members and volunteers sold tea, coffee and cakes and also held a raffle. Various stalls were available to start people off with their Christmas shopping.

The Big Brew Up was hugely successful and I would like to thank Paul Rumney from ESS Services for donating so many delicious cakes to the event. A big thank you should also go to all the stallholders who donated the raffle prizes, and also to all those who brought cakes along on the morning to sell.

Due to the generosity of so many people, we were able to raise the fantastic sum of £484.20. All the money raised by the committee and volunteers at RAF High Wycombe stays on the station and is used for serving personnel and their families.

Our Community Volunteers are friendly faces to whom serving personnel and their families can turn to in times of need. They offer low key practical help on a confidential basis. Whatever your role, either as a committee member or being a volunteer, working for SSAFA is a uniquely rewarding experience with plenty of challenges and choice. We provide training appropriate to each role and cover all out of pocket expenses.
