Thursday Club continue their support of RAFBF
The RAF Benevolent Fund have once again benefited from the hard work and generous efforts of the RAF High Wycombe Thursday Club.
Members of the Club donned their “Bollywood” outfits to hand over a cheque for £18,437.00 to Air Marshal (Retd) Chris Nickols, the Controller of the RAF Benevolent Fund, on his first visit to an RAF Station after taking up post. The cheque represents the money raised from the RAF High Wycombe Christmas Fayre, held in November 2011 and also from the very successful Bollywood Night, which was held in May 2012.
Flt Lt Penny Brady, the RAFBF champion for High Wycombe said, “The main aim of the Bollywood Night and Christmas Fayre was to raise money on behalf of the RAF Benevolent Fund. This is such a worthwhile charity that supports all personnel within the RAF Family, and at High Wycombe in particular, we have benefited in recent months from the generosity of the Benevolent Fund’s Airplay Project, which has provided a number of facilities across the Unit, including play parks and a youth worker”.
The RAF Benevolent Fund is the leading welfare charity that provides financial and practical support to serving and former members of the RAF, as well as their families, and the ladies of the Thursday Club were delighted to hand over the cheque to support the wonderful work they do.
